Established in 2015, the Oceania Combat Association (O.C.A.) was founded to uplift and unify fighters across the Pacific region creating a structured culturally grounded pathway for combat athletes. With its base in Aotearoa (New Zealand) O.C.A. has steadily grown into a recognized sanctioning body supporting the disciplines of Kickboxing, MMA and Amateur Boxing across Oceania.
At the helm of O.C.A. is Sione Fatai, a veteran in the combat sports world with over 20 years of experience as a coach. His extensive background includes active competition in amateur boxing, kickboxing and MMA giving him a comprehensive understanding of fighter development and athlete welfare.
Sione’s leadership is well recognized having been named the New Zealand Samoan National Coach — a role in which he’s proudly represented and mentored Pacific Island athletes on national and international stages.
He is also the founder and head coach of Kingdom Boxing NZ a thriving boxing club based in South Auckland that primarily caters to amateur boxers. The club has become a beacon of youth development and community engagement particularly among Māori and Pasifika fighters.
In addition to coaching Sione brings over a decade of experience as an official lending his expertise to numerous events as a judge and referee. His holistic view of the sport — from inside the ring and beyond — makes him a respected voice in combat sport governance and athlete advocacy.
Julie Mercury is a dedicated and highly respected official in combat sports, with extensive experience in kickboxing, boxing, and mixed martial arts. She brings to O.F.A. a reputation for fairness, precision, and unwavering professionalism.
Having officiated at regional and national events across New Zealand, Julie is known for her deep technical understanding of fight rules, her calm demeanor under pressure, and her commitment to fighter safety. She has earned trust and respect from athletes, coaches, and fellow officials alike.
Her journey includes years of working closely with leading sanctioning bodies, where she has consistently displayed excellent judgment and strong organizational skills. Julie actively mentors newer officials—sharing her knowledge of scoring, refereeing standards, and bout management to elevate standards across the board.
As a valued member of the Oceania Fighting Association, Julie now helps officiate MMA, kickboxing, and other striking sports, playing a key role in ensuring every sanctioned bout is fair, safe, and professionally managed.
Salvador Q. Cadelina is a passionate and highly experienced combat sports coach and referee who has dedicated much of his life to the disciplines of kickboxing and boxing. Known for his calm presence and deep understanding of the fight game, Salvador brings decades of practical experience both inside the gym and around the ring.
He has trained and mentored countless athletes over the years, helping to shape fighters not just in their physical abilities but also in discipline, strategy and sportsmanship. His coaching style is technical and values-driven, with a strong focus on building well-rounded athletes.
In addition to his coaching credentials Salvador is a veteran referee in combat sports. He has officiated at numerous high-profile events and was formerly a referee under the Professional Boxing Association (PBA), where he gained a reputation for fairness, composure and sharp judgment.
Now a proud member of the Oceania Fighting Association (O.F.A.), Salvador has expanded his officiating and coaching expertise to include MMA, kickboxing and other striking disciplines under the OFA banner. A registered nurse with extensive frontline healthcare experience, Jane is well-versed in injury management, recovery protocols, and overall athlete wellness. As a fighting nutritionist, Jane specializes in combat sport weight management, fueling strategies, and long-term fighter health.
