Established in 2015 the Oceania Combat Association (O.C.A.) is a culturally grounded and professionally driven sanctioning organization based in Aotearoa New Zealand. O.C.A. exists to provide a fair structured platform for combat sports including MMA kickboxing and boxing. The organization is committed to high standards of officiating with a key focus on judging and refereeing fight matches across the Oceania region.
With deep roots in Indigenous and Pacific communities O.C.A. not only supports athlete development but also promotes cultural pride and professionalism within martial arts. The organization holds experience across all types of martial arts and brings together a team of highly qualified officials coaches and medical professionals.
Leading O.C.A. is Sione Fatai – a veteran coach with over 20 years of experience. Sione is a former competitor in MMA amateur boxing and kickboxing and currently serves as the New Zealand Samoan National Coach. He is also the founder and head coach of Kingdom Boxing NZ a South Auckland-based club focused on amateur fighter development. In addition Sione brings over 10 years of experience as a combat sports official making him a respected figure in both coaching and governance.
Among O.C.A.’s key officials is Junior “Red Eye Pitbull” Pati a seasoned heavyweight boxer with over 30 professional bouts. After retiring from active competition Junior transitioned into officiating and now brings his ring expertise to O.C.A. as a referee and judge for MMA and striking disciplines.
Salvador Q. Cadelina is another respected figure in the team. A passionate coach and former referee for the Professional Boxing Association (PBA) Salvador has decades of experience in kickboxing and boxing. His transition to O.C.A. marks a renewed commitment to fostering fairness and professionalism in MMA kickboxing and other combat sports.
Julie Mercury brings integrity and precision to O.C.A. as a senior official. With extensive experience in boxing kickboxing and MMA she is widely respected for her calm presence and deep technical understanding. Julie has officiated at numerous high-level events and plays a vital role in mentoring the next generation of officials.
O.C.A. is also proud to include Jane Skelton a registered nurse fighting nutritionist and knowledgeable coach. Jane specializes in athlete weight management performance and recovery. Her medical and coaching experience ensures that fighters under O.C.A. are supported holistically – both in and out of the ring.
Together the O.C.A. team delivers a culturally rooted and professionally sound approach to combat sports. By ensuring fair matchups expert officiating and fighter safety the Oceania Combat Association continues to elevate the standard of martial arts competition across the Pacific.
